Peaceful Family Home
This early 1900’s, mid-terrace, single-family dwelling in East Finchley was purchased by clients who desired a slightly more spacious home in a quieter area of London after living, for years, in a small, Camden Town railway cottage. The rundown home they bought had not been renovated since the mid-70’s and, at some point, by way of some doubtful building practices, it had acquired a long and narrow rear extension.
The house needed full refurbishment, including all new plumbing and electrics, along with new extensions. The existing, narrow rear extension was demolished to make way for a full-width rear extension, providing space for a bespoke new kitchen, designed in conjunction with Roundhouse Kitchens, and a new family sitting area. The more formal reception room and dining area were retained in their original positions but connected spatially to the new kitchen by way of open walls and large pocket doors. New French doors lead out to a new cobble stone patio and then into a slightly raised, newly landscaped rear garden.
